What is a Chi Machine, and who is it for?
A Chi Machine is a small motion machine that cradles your ankles and swings them gently from side to side while you lie down. The motion travels up through your legs, hips and back like a slow wave. You do nothing. It is used for relaxation and to loosen stiff muscles, and it suits most fitness levels.

What does a Chi Machine session feel like?
You lie flat on a mat with your ankles resting in the cradle. The machine rocks them gently from side to side, and the movement travels up your legs, hips and spine like a slow wave. It is passive, so you simply relax. Afterwards you may feel loose and calm, a little like after a stretch.
There is nothing to learn and no effort involved. People who find exercise hard right now, or who simply want half an hour of stillness, often like it for exactly that reason.
What is the Chi Machine actually for?
In US regulation the Chi Machine is a Class I therapeutic massager, a category for relieving minor muscle aches and pains. We offer it for relaxation and loosening up, not as a medical treatment. Claims that it replaces exercise are not supported, and we do not make them.
Think of it as a gentle motion massage that you do not have to do anything for. It pairs well with Synergie, which is why we offer the two together.
Is there research on the Chi Machine?
Very little. The best-known published study is a small trial using a Chi Machine as an add-on therapy for people with leg lymphoedema. That is not evidence that it helps healthy people with anything beyond relaxation, so we describe it plainly as a gentle motion massager and nothing more.
We would rather undersell a treatment than oversell it. If you are curious, the trial is linked below, and you are welcome to ask us anything about it on WhatsApp.
Who should avoid it or ask first?
If you are pregnant, recovering from surgery, or have a back injury, ask us and your doctor before booking. The motion is gentle, but it moves the hips and spine. Most healthy adults can use it comfortably, and it needs no fitness, so it also suits people for whom exercise is hard right now.
Tell us about any condition when you book. We would much rather have the conversation before your session than after.
How is a Chi Machine different from exercise?
It is passive: the machine moves your ankles while you lie still, so you are not working your muscles, raising your heart rate or building fitness. That makes it relaxing rather than a workout. It is a gentle way to loosen up, and it is not a replacement for walking, stretching or training.
It is a gentle motion massage, so it suits days when you want to loosen up rather than train. If you can walk, stretch or lift, keep doing it; the Chi Machine sits alongside, not instead.
Can I combine a Chi Machine session with Synergie?
Yes. The Chi Machine pairs well with Synergie vacuum massage in one visit, and the two together cost less than booking each on its own. Synergie works on the look of the skin and contours, while the Chi Machine is for loosening and relaxing. Pick the combination on the booking form.
It makes a calm way to finish a visit after the firmer rhythm of vacuum massage.
